Approach for natural gas to be a primary energy source in China

Weihe HUANG, Jindian CHEN, Chuan FU, Yan HUANG

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2019, Volume 6, Issue 4,   Pages 467-476 doi: 10.1007/s42524-019-0068-6

Abstract: This work reveals the positioning of natural gas in the evolution of world energy and the general law of its development. In the long-term adjustment of energy structure, natural gas has gradually become the primary energy source because of five factors: policy, resources, technology, facilities, and market. To expedite the revolution of energy production and consumption, China must urgently expand the use of natural gas toward a more positive role in complementing coal and renewable energy and prioritize its usage in three areas, namely, urban gas, power generation, and industrial fuel. Natural gas is expected to account for approximately 15% of China’s total energy consumption in the future. For natural gas to be the primary energy, the exploitation of gas resources must be expanded, resource access must be improved, a flexible trade system must be set up, infrastructure investment must be increased, and the security system must be enhanced.

Technological lubricating means: Evolution of materials and ideas

Vladimir A. GODLEVSKIY

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2016, Volume 11, Issue 1,   Pages 101-107 doi: 10.1007/s11465-016-0369-y

Abstract:

The main stages of technological lubricating material development from ancient times to date are described. How the chemical composition of these products changed with time, how new ideas revealing the physical and chemical basics of external media that influence the mechanical processing of materials appeared, how these ideas explained the differences between traditional tribology and specific technology of metal processing are discussed. The question of the possible realization of Rehbinder’s adsorption effect in contact zone is also stated. The description of a very captivating problem is related to the explanation of the mechanism of lubricant penetration into the contact zone between the material being processed and the tool. The birth and development of the hypothesis of microcapillary penetration of the lubricant into the dynamically changed intersurface clearance that has finally led to formulating the “necessary kinetic condition of the lubricating activity” is relayed.

Flux-free brazing of Mg-containing aluminium alloys by means of cold spraying

BOBZIN Kirsten, ZHAO Lidong, ERNST Felix, RICHARDT Katharina

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2008, Volume 3, Issue 4,   Pages 355-359 doi: 10.1007/s11465-008-0055-9

Abstract: In the present study, AlSi12 and AlSi10Cu4 were deposited onto Mg-containing aluminium alloys 6063 and 5754 by cold spraying. The influences of the two brazing alloys and spray parameters on coating formation were investigated. The microstructure of the coatings was characterized. Some coated samples were heat-treated at 590°C and 560°C in air to investigate the effect of the rupture of oxide scales on the diffusion of elements during heat-treatment. Some coated samples were brazed under argon atmosphere without any fluxes. The results show that AlSi12 had much better deposition behaviour than AlSi10Cu4. Due to the rupture of oxide scales, Cu and Si diffused into the substrate and a metallurgical bond formed between the brazing alloys and the substrates during heat-treatment. The coated samples could be brazed without any fluxes. Because the oxide scales prevented the formation of a metallurgical bond locally, the brazed samples had relatively low shear strengths of up to 43 MPa.

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2014, Volume 8, Issue 2,   Pages 156-160 doi: 10.1007/s11705-014-1427-9

Abstract: In this work, Mg doped hydroxyapatite (Mg-HAP) nanoparticles were produced by a reaction-precipitation process by using a spinning disc reactor (SDR) at high rotational speed. The production process of these nanoparticles consisted of the neutralization reaction between two aqueous solutions of calcium chloride and ammonia orthophosphate at room temperature. By operating at pH= 10, a high purity Mg-HAP nanoparticles were obtained. In particular, they were 51 nm in average size when the two reagents were fed over the disc symmetrically at 3 cm from the disc center and a rotational speed of the disc reactor equal to 1400 r/min was adopted.

Approaching the binding between Cu(II) and aerobic granules by a modified titration and µ-XRF

Hongwei LUO,Longfei WANG,Zhonghua TONG,Hanqing YU,Guoping SHENG

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2016, Volume 10, Issue 2,   Pages 362-367 doi: 10.1007/s11783-015-0803-0

Abstract: Interactions between metals and activated sludge can substantially affect the fate and transport of heavy metals in wastewater treatment plants. Therefore, it is important to develop a simple, fast and efficient method to elucidate the interaction. In this study, a modified titration method with a dynamic mode was developed to investigate the binding of Cu(II), a typical heavy metal, onto aerobic granules. The titration results indicated that pH and ionic strength both had a positive effect on the biosorption capacity of the granular sludge. The -XRF results demonstrated that the distribution of metals on the granular surface was heterogeneous, and Cu showed strong correlations and had the same “hot spots” positions with other metal ions (e.g., Ca, Mg, Fe etc.). Ion exchange and complexing were the main mechanisms for the biosorption of Cu(II) by aerobic granules. These results would be beneficial for better understanding of Cu(II) migration and its fate in wastewater treatment plants.

Map Update in Raster Mode by Means of Aerial and Space Images

Lin Zongjian

Strategic Study of CAE 2000, Volume 2, Issue 4,   Pages 43-47

Abstract:

To meet the urgent needs of updating 1:10 000 scale and 1 :50 000 scale topographic map for the whole territory of China, an integrated techinique for key elements revision is proposed, in which the topographic map is updated in raster mode through overlaying the precisely geo-rectified aerial or satellite image on the digitized map. The following issues are specially presented: 1) The scanning resolution of topographic map digitization in raster mode, which is not the same as the one in vector mode. 2) The concept of image array and graphic control point, instead of traditional pinpoint control point. 3) A local registration and adjustment method for rectifying aerial and space image using DRG without DEM. 4) Quantitative image interpretation by the guide of qualitative analysis. 5) The semi-automatic metrod for extraction of structural information from remote sensing image. Finally, a software developed on the basis of the proposed technique and its function are described, at the same time, an experiment result of 600 scenes of 1-50 000 scale topographic maps revision using the developed softwarte is presented.
